Liars, Liars, Liars Mute 2007




Liars.

I could let you a lot about how the group is varied on how incredibly unpredictable.

I could also start from the fact that many (including this writer) expected another concept. Or for example, about the confusion since the first listen.

Or the rumors that followed each other continuously over the content of the album:

- will be a songwriting
album - will be an album of slow
- will be an album of mambo
- there seems to be among the guests Raoul Casadei

Or even , all the influences that are in the album, the inevitable Referential list: Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Royal Trux, Beastie Boys, Oneida, Jesus And Mary Chain, Velvet Underground, Throbbing Gristle ...

In Liars the last effort of the most important (for me) band of recent years, the songs There are, at times clear and sharp ( Protection , practically a masterpiece for two organs, vocals and drum machine), others hidden beneath the folds of noise and repetition ( Leather Prowler , fixed pace, prepared piano and unstructured, and melody detectable under the long mantra.)

other times prefer direct forms and frighteningly violent in their compactness (the forerunner Plaster Casts Of Everything , a sort of revenge Territorial Pissings 2) tribalism or framed in the organ which beats the pulse ( Clear Island, after hearing as the arrangement of the items changes from verse to verse, refrain from a refrain). Other

Sometimes they are even able to seeing hip hop systems and solutions mystical instrumental with echoes progressive ( Sailing To Byzantium ) or simply captivating in their composure / debauchery ( Houseclouds ). And then of

chitarrone you do not expect, at a pace slightly monolithic 'sabbatical' (to the wise is ... Cycle Time), sour or soaring and overwhelming ( What Would They Know ).

You return to the garage, the spring reverb, the feeling of playing inside a cave, in each of the potential delay of 30 years, yet tremendously current ( Freak Out), perhaps even an episode in New York craziest years 60 ( Pure Unevil ) inevitably mixed with the psychedelic and hallucinogenic states.

This album Liars stands out for its harshness. Do not expect sharp sounds, do not expect an ethereal production, do not expect much less a refasten to the sounds of They Were Wrong ... The Liars have again been able to surprise with an album that is organically own previous experiences of the trio, riots and centrifugation in an exciting new aspect of their work. They are always, never themselves, 'Je est un autre' , yet you recognize them you can barely repress a little box. Fortunately. Enhance their culture, a way of understanding things that goes in depth, even in guitars 'filthy' register online - Pure Unevil - even in low out of time and played incerottato - Freak Out -.

I can not find plausible explanations to justify my enthusiasm for this band, this way people listen to music and rework it all the time.

I believe that today, the Liars are the thing or between things, the bigger the rock, and that alone should be enough, I hope you grow curious about the albums and the live of this great group.
